Circle of Serbian Sisters
History of Circle of Serbian Sisters
The Circle of Serbian Sisters ’Kosovo Maiden’ at the Church of St. Sava was founded in 1971.
Since its inception, they have continuously worked for the benefit of the Serbian people and the
Serbian Orthodox Church.
After every Sunday service in the church, they prepare refreshments,
and for major holidays and celebrations, they organize festive dinners. They chose the name
’Kosovo Maiden’ out of a noble intention to follow the example of the devout Kosovka Devojka,
who selflessly helped Serbian heroes in the Battle of Kosovo.
In addition to their charitable
activities, the Circle of Sisters also works in the cultural and educational fields, nurturing
the Orthodox faith and preserving Serbian cultural heritage.
Slava of the Circle of Serbian Sisters ‘Kosovo Maiden’ is St. basil of Ostrog on May 12th.
